Micah Lasher defeats Schlossberg, Conway for Democratic nomination in NY’s 12th district: AP

New York Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler’s chosen successor, Micah Lasher, won the party’s nomination Tuesday night for the state’s 12th congressional district, defeating a crowded primary that featured two noteworthy competitors. Lasher, a New York assemblyman, defeated former President John F. Kennedy’s grandson Jack Schlossberg and Republican-turned-Democrat attorney George Conway for the nomination, along with assemblyman Alex Bores.
The Associated Press called the race for Lasher, who was endorsed by both Nadler and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, with 39% of the vote, compared to Bores’ 35% and 87% of the vote counted. Schlossberg came in third with 10.8%.
Conway came in fifth with 6.1% of the vote at time of publishing. 
The district, a solidly Democratic area, is centered in Manhattan and includes some of the wealthiest and most densely populated neighborhoods in New York City. It covers the Upper East and West sides of Manhattan and the neighborhoods of Gramercy, Murray Hill, Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, Greenwich Village and SoHo.
Lasher will now face Republican Caroline Shinkle in November after she ran unopposed for the GOP nomination.
