President Donald Trump on Monday declined to call for the resignation of Rep. Max Miller, R-Ohio, as he faces allegations of abusing his ex-wife and injuring their child.Miller was married to Emily Moreno, the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, who has said he should not serve in Congress. The younger Moreno has sought a restraining order against Miller, who has denied wrongdoing.
Pressed on the matter on Monday, Trump said “it’s a very sad thing. I know Max. He’s a good person I mean I always thought he was a very good person. And I’m gonna let the families figure that out.”
“But it’s accusations and I’m gonna let them figure that out,” he added.
Miller has refused to step aside as a candidate or step down as a sitting lawmaker.
