President Trump on Monday publicly recommended Darline Graham Nordone, the late Senator Lindsey Graham’s sister, to fill South Carolina’s vacant Senate seat, calling it “a fabulous tribute” to the longtime ally who died over the weekend at age 71.
The recommendation, posted on Truth Social and first reported by Bloomberg, was directed squarely at Governor Henry McMaster, who holds the sole authority to appoint an interim replacement. McMaster was reportedly set to announce his decision at a press conference Monday afternoon, though no appointment had been confirmed at the time of Trump’s post.
