President Donald Trump announced a $54 billion South Korean investment in Alaska on Wednesday, advancing a massive energy project as the White House highlights manufacturing and job creation ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm elections.
The investment will help build a liquefied natural gas facility tied to an 807-mile pipeline connecting Alaska’s resource-rich North Slope to export markets. The funding is part of $350 billion in U.S. investments South Korea pledged under a trade agreement reached with the Trump administration in July 2025.
