President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday regarding childhood vaccines, which separated the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine into three different shots. The order recommends administering the separate shots across different visits, and directs the nation’s health department to improve vaccine research. He did not specify how far apart the visits should be.
“For far too long, America has recommended more childhood vaccines than any peer nation, and even twice as many doses as some European countries,” the president said in a signing ceremony. “In many cases, we were requiring 72 jabs for our beautiful, healthy, lovely, delicate little children.
“Effective immediately, my administration’s recognizing Gold Standard childhood vaccine recommendations for only 11 core vaccinations against the most serious and dangerous diseases, along with the MMR,” he continued. “We want it in three separate vaccinations, given at separate times.”
The president also stated that vaccines for hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza, among others, will no longer be recommended for all children, citing religious and medical exceptions.
