President Donald Trump on Friday celebrated the Supreme Court order allowing construction on the White House ballroom to resume while the case proceeds.Chief Justice John Roberts issued the order on Friday, which comes after the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals found Trump lacked the authority from Congress to build the ballroom.
“We are grateful for the Decision of the United States Supreme Court. The Military/Ballroom Complex being built on the hallowed grounds of the White House, which is so vital for National Security, will be THE GREATEST OF ITS KIND!” he posted on Truth Social. “It is something that Presidents have wanted for 150 years, and that the Military has been seeking for the last 100 years. Their wish will soon be fulfilled! Construction is under budget and ahead of schedule.”
The National Trust for Historic Preservation brought the suit. The ballroom is one of several projects in the nation’s capital that come as part of Trump’s efforts to “beautify” the city.
He has also renovated fountains, cleaned statutes, and planned the construction of a triumphal arch.
