The Trump administration’s Interior Department is taking a proverbial machete to its connection with three dozen progressive groups that it says do not align with its values, which will ultimately save millions of dollars. A total of roughly $4 million would have been sent off to organizations with ties to various left-wing causes ranging from environmental activism to programs steeped in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
DEI policies were extremely popular during former President Joe Biden’s time in the White House. A press release from the Interior Department, which is helmed by Doug Burgum, formally announced it would be “ending partnerships with groups that no longer represent the priorities of the American people.” The severed connections are part of a larger initiative started by the administration as it takes a deeper look at government waste, fraud, abuse, and the endless contracts that were a product of them.
