Karen Bass trailing Nithya Raman in LA mayor’s race: Poll

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has fallen behind a progressive challenge in her reelection bid, a recent survey has shown.The latest University of California, Berkeley survey showed Bass with 28% support among likely voters, compared to 39% who backed City Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
Notably, 33% were undecided, leaving Bass with room to overcome the deficit by the election.
Bass finished first in the city’s open primary, with Raman ultimately beating out Spencer Pratt, a more conservative candidate.
Raman has the backing of the Democratic Socialists of America and is a member of that group, according to The Hill.
Potentially driving some of Raman’s lead is Bass’s generally poor public image. Just 28% said they approved of the mayor, compared with 63% who disapproved.
