Rep. Jamie Raskin declared that impeaching President Trump is “not a taboo” for Democrats and called it a “critical tool” for “constitutional self-defense”, even as his own party leaders try to keep the focus on healthcare and affordability.
The Maryland Democrat appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday and laid out the most aggressive impeachment posture any senior House Democrat has taken publicly this cycle. Pressed by moderator Kristen Welker, Raskin rattled off a list of alleged offenses he said could justify impeachment proceedings if Democrats retake the majority in the midterm elections.
