One of the stranger criticisms directed at full preterists comes from fellow Protestants. We are told that our problem is not simply that we interpret certain passages incorrectly, but that we have wandered outside the boundaries established by the historic creeds and confessions. Sometimes the accusation is sharpened further: full preterism is supposedly the inevitable product of Solo Scriptura—the individual Christian with his Bible, accountable to no church, creed, confession, or historical consensus.
There is something peculiar about hearing that argument from the sons of the Reformation.
