House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, a Louisiana Republican, is expected to soon kick off his campaigning during the August recess in a swing district in Nebraska, a source told Politico on Friday.The House left for its August recess last week and will return the first week of September, before breaking for another week for Labor Day, according to the chamber’s calendar.
Scalise is expected to travel to Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District near Omaha for an event with Republican Brinker Harding. It was not immediately clear when the event would take place.
The majority leader is also expected to travel across the country throughout August to campaign for incumbents and new Republican candidates, with stops in Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, New York, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas.
He is expected to support nearly 30 Republicans, incumbents and candidates during his travel.
