    Framingham Analysis Links Cumulative Health Over Decades to Lower Death Risk

    An analysis drawn from the Framingham Heart Study has found that cardiovascular health measured cumulatively across decades, rather than at a single point in time, was associated with substantially lower risks of heart disease, stroke and death, according to researchers.

    The study tracked 3,231 participants across multiple exam cycles for roughly 25 years and then followed health outcomes for a median of 28 years, according to the report. Investigators used the American Heart Association’s Life’s Essential 8 framework to calculate cumulative health scores spanning the decades of observation, the report stated.
