
Conservative candidate Keiko Fujimori has won Peru’s presidential election, defeating left-wing challenger Roberto Sánchez in one of the closest races in the country’s modern history.
With more than 98 percent of ballots counted, Fujimori secured approximately 50.002 percent of the vote, edging Sánchez by only a few hundred votes out of nearly 20 million cast.
