Iranian negotiators left peace talks with Qatari mediators on Sunday, apparently not because the discussions fell apart. A draft proposal is now circulating with a follow-up meeting possible, Reuters reported, citing an unnamed official who was briefed on the talks.
Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran’s foreign minister, said the talks involved a seven-step plan Iran proposed in September, which would open the Strait of Hormuz and end the U.S. naval blockade on Iran.
Baghaei said that Iran’s demands are “reasonable and logical,” and no final agreement can be had unless the U.S. naval blockade is ended and Tehran’s demands respected.
