Lately, every weekend in Paris brings another orgy of violence, each more extreme and unsettling than the one before. The perpetrators are radical students and teachers, unionists, far-left activists, and, not least, restive, revolution-minded, and unassimilable Muslims from the suburbs. With every weekend, moreover, the violence has spread to other cities in Western Europe, painting a picture of a large multi-national region where governments that have long tried to ignore the long-term social and economic implications of the mass immigration from the Islamic world that they have welcomed in accordance with European Union directives – in short, providing absurd levels of financial support to the growing numbers of hostile, idle foreigners in their midst while allowing their own people’s standard of living to decline – are finally being confronted with the disastrous results of their folly. In consequence, France – along with many of its neighbors – faces the specter of a species of revolution that may end up replacing Western freedoms with some hideous hodgepodge of Communism and sharia law.
