Creatine, a supplement widely used by athletes to improve strength and performance, may also enhance the immune system’s ability to fight cancer, according to a study published July 8 in iScience by researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles. The study found that creatine boosts the activity of dendritic cells, specialized immune cells that detect tumors and activate killer T cells to destroy cancer, the researchers said. The findings, based on experiments in mice and human cells, have not yet been tested in human patients, the authors cautioned. [1]
