The Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg (the capital city of the province Manitoba) states on its website that it is “the first museum solely dedicated to the evolution, celebration and future of human rights.” It also boasts of “Contributing to the collective memory and sense of identity of all Canadians”; and that “respect and understanding of human rights can serve as a positive force for change in the world.” Yet the museum’s decision to open its exhibit, “Palestine Uprooted: Nakba Past and Present,” ignored valid concerns from the Jewish community and wider society at large.
