Apple on Friday morning briefly replaced Nvidia as the world’s most valuable company, with the company’s market cap rising to $4.91 trillion, but Nvidia eventually reclaimed its spot.Apple’s market cap closed Friday at $4.89 trillion, according to Fox Business, while Nvidia’s rose to $4.92 trillion, narrowly defeating the iPhone maker. However, Apple’s shares rose 0.14% while Nvidia’s fell 2.21% during the trading session.
The tech company’s temporary reclaim as the most valuable company in the world marked the first time it had that title since April of 2025.
Microsoft took the title from Apple last April but Nvidia took it from Microsoft in June 2025, according to CNBC. In October, Nvidia became the first to hit a historic $5 trillion market cap, which was the same month Apple crossed $4 trillion.
The changes come as investors weigh the costs and benefits of companies spending to build AI models and the data centers used to power them.
