Trump: Iran talks ‘on pace’ despite Iran’s public protests over Lebanon

President Donald Trump on Monday stated that negotiations to end the Iran war were “on pace,” despite public protests from the Iranian government over the ongoing fighting in Lebanon and state media reporting that Tehran had suspended talks outright.”Talks are continuing, at a rapid pace, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he posted on Truth Social.
Trump’s remarks follow Iran’s state-aligned Tasnim reporting that Iran had suspended talks. Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi, moreover, explicitly condemned the ongoing fighting in Lebanon, asserting that Israel was in violation of the ceasefire terms.
“The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Araghchi posted to X. “Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts.”
Trump has, for weeks, repeatedly stated that he was close to negotiating a deal to end the war, which has been in a state of nominal ceasefire for more than a month.
Iran, however, has not conceded to key U.S. demands on its nuclear program.
