President Trump on Wednesday opined that former Rep. Mary Peltola, D-Alaska, should not be permitted to run for Senate, following reporting from the New York Times that her campaign allegedly recruited another candidate named “Dan Sullivan” to act as a spoiler against an incumbent of the same name and Peltola knew of the scheme.”In Alaska, I don’t think Mary Peltola, after perpetrating such a terrible scheme, should be allowed to run, because this is ELECTION FRAUD. The Democrats cheated!” he posted on Truth Social. “They found a man named Dan Sullivan, put him on the Ballot, then lied to the Court, and said they didn’t know anything about it. That’s perjury. She shouldn’t be allowed to run, and neither should the FAKE Dan Sullivan!”
The Times report asserted that members of the campaign had actively combed Alaska in pursuit of someone named “Dan Sullivan” to run against Sen. Dan Sullivan, R-Alaska, who is seeking reelection. The campaign also reportedly sought to recruit other potential spoiler candidates. Peltola has denied the Times report.
