The White House fired back at Jimmy Kimmel after the late-night host claimed the FCC threatened him over a planned interview with a Texas Democratic Senate candidate, and told reporters who repeated the accusation to “insist on proof.”
Assistant White House press secretary David Ingle issued a pointed denial after Kimmel announced on his Wednesday broadcast that his scheduled interview with James Talarico, a Democrat running for U.S. Senate in Texas, would not air on television. Kimmel said the interview would instead be posted to his show’s YouTube channel, blaming pressure from the Federal Communications Commission, the federal agency that regulates broadcast television.
