The White House has asked U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign from her post, White House press secretary Katie Zacharia announced on Tuesday.”We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign, and we wish her well,” Zacharia said, during the White House press briefing.
Guilfoyle has been embroiled in scandal over revelations that she had asked a major political donor to wire her $100,000 to pay off an American Express bill.
Trump appointed her to the post early in his administration and shortly after she and Donald Trump Jr. ended their longstanding relationship. She was previously a close advisor to the president and before that was a major figure on Fox News.
