White House app ranks number one in News category, top 20 altogether in app store

The White House said Wednesday that its app ranked number one in the news category on Tuesday amid a legal battle with three mainstream outlets regarding press access. The app ranking comes a day after the White House unveiled “TRUMP TV,” which is an “essentials station,” that will feature all the administration’s top moments in a livestream on its YouTube page.
The White House said the app previously ranked No. 1 in News and, at its launch in March, soared as high as No. 4 across the entire App Store.
“More and more Americans are gravitating to the app because they want the news straight from the source, not filtered through networks that have spent years distorting the record of President Donald J. Trump,” the White House said in a news release.
“That demand is rising as legacy networks fall in line behind CNN, MS NOW, and Politico, outlets whose White House credentials were pulled after a long record of false reporting,” it continued. “Other networks have now withheld pool coverage in solidarity. The American people are not waiting on those cameras; they are going straight to the Presidency.”
The app is ranked number two in the News section of the Apple app store at the time of publishing.
