Virginia Democratic state Sen. L. Louise Lucas was indicted Thursday on federal charges accusing her of operating a criminal marijuana distribution enterprise, laundering drug proceeds and using her political influence to benefit herself and her family.
Lucas, a longtime Democratic lawmaker, surrendered to federal authorities and was expected to appear in court Thursday, according to The Associated Press.
