Vance touts admin’s law and order record in Capitol speech

Vice President JD Vance on Friday touted the Trump administration’s law and order record in a speech to law enforcement officers gathered at the nation’s Capitol.”We stopped handcuffing the police, and started handcuffing more violent criminals,” he declared. “We’ve restored a culture that supports—not second guesses—our officers when they go out and do their important work.”
“So long as Donald J. Trump is [President], and so long as I’m the Vice President, we will never again let policymakers in the building behind us allow violent criminals to tee off on our police officers,” he added, referencing the U.S. Capitol building.
Vance has increasingly been in the spotlight since President Donald Trump named him as the administration’s fraud czar and placed him in charge of the federal anti-fraud task force.
That posting has seen Vance and the Department of Justice implement nationwide crackdowns on the misuse of public funds. Thus far, Vance has led major busts in Los Angeles against fraudulent hospices and crackdowns in Minneapolis in the wake of bombshell fraud reports in that city.
Earlier this week, he visited Maine to tout the success of the administration’s efforts in that state. He also announced that his task force had sent letters to the Medicaid programs of all 50 states seeking assurances about the scope of their anti-fraud efforts. Vance further warned that failure to take fraud seriously could lead to a loss of federal funding.
