Vice President JD Vance on Monday stated that the U.S. and Iran had already signed a deal to end the Iran war digitally.”We already signed the deal yesterday digitally,” Vance told ABC News. Trump announced the agreement on Sunday, with a formal signing ceremony to take place on Friday. Vance is expected to attend that event.
Notably, Vance also said the U.S. would release the text of the agreement later in the week. Israel, for its part, has balked at the purported terms of the agreement and appears concerned about provisions requiring an end to fighting in Lebanon.
The vice president, for his part, insisted that the deal requires Iran to take steps to ensure compliance with non-nuclear proliferation provisions before it would secure access to funds for rebuilding.
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, said he might attend the signing ceremony, but that he expected to have returned to the U.S. from the G7 summit in Switzerland by then.
