Vice President JD Vance this week defended his online spat with conservative commentator Marc Thiessen, in which he appeared to make a fat joke at the pundit.”I think he’s been a little bit unfair to me over the last couple of weeks, and so I decided to hit back with a little bit of spice,” Vance told radio host Hugh Hewitt. “I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with being a little spicy from time to time. And you know, maybe in two years, Hugh, I’ll look back and say I wish I hadn’t said that. But right now, I feel pretty good about that one.”
Thiessen has been a vocal critic of Vance, largely over their differing opinions on the Iran war. The exchange saw TPUSA official Andrew Kolvet relay accounts of the frustrations of college students over the cost of food, including with a reference to a $20 burrito.
“Cry me a river. The burritos in the college cafeteria are included in your meal plan,” Thiessen responded.
Vance then chimed in, saying “I’m surprised to hear Mark say this. If you’ve ever met him in person, it’s quite obvious the man has never missed a burrito.”
