U.S. considering Iran sanctions relief in exchange for major compromises on enriched uranium: report

A senior administration official said Sunday that the United States could consider broad sanctions relief for Iran if Tehran agrees to major concessions on its enriched uranium program.The official told Fox News that the U.S. government is prepared to offer “significant accommodations” on sanctions provided Iran reciprocates with meaningful compromises regarding uranium enrichment.
The official pushed back on speculation that a deal could be finalized as early as Sunday, arguing that Iran’s political system “does not move fast enough” for that timeframe.
“Our plan is to deal with all of their stockpile of the enriched material,” the official said, adding that U.S. negotiators have seen signs that Iranian officials are showing greater flexibility than in previous talks.
“We see the Iranians making some serious accommodations on these questions that we didn’t see before,” the official said.
The administration remains opposed to any Iranian effort to impose restrictions or fees on transit through the Strait of Hormuz, the official said.
