Tulsi Gabbard shares update on husband’s cancer, months after her resignation

Former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard shared an update on her husband’s cancer treatment. Gabbard resigned from her position in the Trump administration in May after she learned her husband had sacral chrodoma, an extremely rare form of bone cancer. 
In a video posted on X on Thursday, Gabbard said that her husband, Abraham, had the option of surgery or radiation. He elected to go through with the surgery. She said she was happy when he came out of surgery and was recovering, “but it was also very scary, too.” 
The surgery required him to undergo heavy anesthesia for eight hours, and his body started reacting to the drugs that were in his body. The video shows Gabbard at his side following the surgery and giving him comfort, as well has his attempts to walk while he was still in recovery. Gabbard said he refused to take any narcotic pain medication. 
“He really had to push through the post-operative pain,” Gabbard said. 
Gabbard said a few weeks after the surgery was done, the doctor and pathologists determined they were able to cut out all the cancerous bone and tissue in his body. For the past few months, Abraham has been undergoing a rigorous physical therapy program, she said. 
Gabbard said the fight isn’t over. Her husband will still have to get frequent MRIs to ensure he is in remission, she said.
“We are so grateful to God for his unconditional love, for being our shelter, for being our peace and our strength,” Gabbard said.
