President Trump is selling the American people a fantasy. The announcement of a “historic” deal with Venezuela to take control of 65 billion barrels of oil is a masterpiece of political theater, but it is not a solution to our energy problems. It is a coerced arrangement, a midterm election stunt, and a logistical impossibility that will do nothing to lower gas prices for years to come, if ever.
