    The foreign policy establishment has spent the summer telling anyone who will listen that renewed talks with Tehran are a mirage. MSNBC and CNN want you to believe that the whole exercise is an attempt to fool markets and voters. The truth is that the Washington establishment has always attempted to undercut President Trump’s dealmaking, and once the objective is attained, they’ve simply ignored his remarkable legacy as a President of Peace.

    Understand what the objection actually is. It is not that President Trump’s terms are wrong. It is that he is willing to sit across a table from people the Beltway has decided are untouchable. That is the whole complaint. For two generations, American statecraft treated conversation itself as a concession — a prize to be withheld, a reward for good behavior that never came. The result was decades of frozen conflicts, sanctions regimes that punished populations without moving governments, and a diplomatic corps that mistook inaction for principle.
