Trump warns Houthis as group gains ground in Yemen

President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a warning to the Houthi militant group in Yemen, reminding them of his prior bombings of the country and saying that they were “behaving very badly.”Trump’s comments came as the Houthis, also known as Ansarallah, make considerable gains against the Saudi-backed government based in Aden. In late September, the Houthis stormed the Red Sea coast, seized the historic port city of Mocha, and took several islands near the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.
More recently, the group completed the encirclement of the city of Taizz, the last major city in government hands between the front line and Aden, which serves as the provisional capital.
“The Houthis are behaving very badly. I thought they learned their lesson a year ago when we bombed the HELL out of them and, at their request, stopped,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “They’ve been silent for a long time, but now they’ve emerged again, probably at the behest of Iran, which is a Failing Nation, with No Navy, No Airforce, the World’s Worst Economy, and 301% Inflation, in a very nasty way, hitting Saudi Arabia, and purposefully trying to drive up Oil Prices, probably prior to the U.S. Elections — NOT NICE.”
“Somebody should explain to them that I’m not running in the Elections, I’ve already won, IN A MASSIVE LANDSLIDE, but I’ll be there after the Elections, and I will never forget!” he added.
The Houthis are closely aligned with Iran and previously imposed a blockade of the Red Sea that forced commercial vessels to reroute around the Cape of Good Hope.
