Trump touts White House repairs: ‘Past Presidents did not take care of it’

President Donald Trump on Sunday touted his efforts to repair the White House, asserting that prior occupants had not properly maintained the presidential residence.”The White House was in very bad condition, both inside and out. Frankly, it was a ‘dump!’ Past Presidents did not take care of it,” he posted on Truth Social. “I love renovating it during my spare time, which is not much. The Department of Interior, and various contractors, are doing a fantastic job.”
Trump also included photos of the restoration work, which comes amid construction of the White House ballroom. That project has been a national controversy and the subject of considerable litigation, though Trump appears poised to complete its construction.
Apart from the ballroom, Trump also built a permanent helipad on the White House grounds and has worked to restore other monuments across Washington, D.C. Those efforts have seen the renovation of the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall, the cleaning of the equestrian statues near the Lincoln Memorial, and the restoration of fountains outside Union Station.
