President Donald Trump on Wednesday celebrated the success of two “underdog” candidates whom he endorsed in the Tuesday Republican primaries.”I supported and ENDORSED two so-called “underdogs” yesterday, one from South Carolina, and the other from Oklahoma, and they BOTH WON. Two great people!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
In South Carolina, Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., narrowly beat out Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., for the party’s senatorial nod. Trump had personally campaigned for Graham with a rally in Myrtle Beach, S.C., ahead of the race.
In Oklahoma, the Trump-backed Mike Mazzei narrowly defeated state Attorney General Gentner Drummond for the gubernatorial nod.
Both wins marked boosts to Trump’s endorsement record, which had faltered somewhat after a few upsets in Florida and Tennessee.
