President Donald Trump on Friday morning touted what he said was a positive reception to his Thursday evening address in which he announced the declassification of documents outlining election integrity shortcomings.Trump’s speech saw him address a litany of revelations, including findings of non-citizens on voter rolls and the Chinese acquisition of hundreds of millions of voter files.
“Great reviews on speech last night. Big audience. Pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT!!!” he posted on Truth Social.
The SAVE America Act is a marquis voter ID bill that has languished in the Senate due to the 60-vote filibuster threshold. Despite public pressure, Senate Majority Leader John Thune has declined to alter Senate rules or fire the parliamentarian to pass the bill through the reconciliation process.
Trump cited the SAVE America Act as a key reason for endorsing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, in the recent Republican primary.
But the issue has strained Trump’s relations with Senate leaders, many of whom have insisted that Trump is seeking the impossible.
