President Donald Trump on Wednesday celebrated Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard’s tenure ahead of her planned departure at the end of June.Gabbard announced her plans to step down from the role last week, citing her husband’s cancer diagnosis. She has served for more than one year and frequently attracted attention as a foreign policy skeptic amid the Iran war.
“Tulsi, we’re praying for you and for your husband. Her husband’s not feeling great, but he’s going to feel great soon,” Trump said during the Wednesday Cabinet meeting.
“She gave us leads that were pretty much — people thought they were dead and they weren’t dead,” he said. “She dramatically reformed the Office of Director of National Intelligence cutting the staff by 40%. And she prevented countless terrorists and cartel members from entering the United States.”
He also applauded her work in declassifying and publishing materials related to the now-debunked Russia Collusion hoax.
