President Donald Trump will campaign in Iowa twice ahead of the November midterms, the state Republican Party chairman announced on social media.Though Iowa has trended toward Republicans in recent election cycles, the state is home to two competitive statewide races, as Democrats mount unexpectedly strong bids for governor and Senate.
“I just got off the phone with President Trump. He told me that he will be in Iowa on October 22 and November 1. He is anxious for Iowans to hear his message before they vote. Stay tuned for further details,” Jeff Kaufmann posted on X.
Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, is seeking to replace the retiring Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, in what could prove the decisive race in the battle for the upper chamber. Most polls currently show her race against Democratic candidate Josh Turek as a toss up.
On the gubernatorial side, Republican Zach Lahn is trailing Democrat Rob Sand and the race appears to lean blue.
