President Donald Trump on Monday bemoaned the media coverage of the Iran war, contending that even if Iran were to unequivocally surrender, the media would still declare the conflict a victory for Tehran.Trump opined that Iranian forces waved literal white flags and signed “documents of surrender” that “The Failing New York Times, The China Street Journal (WSJ!), Corrupt and now Irrelevant CNN, and all other members of the Fake News Media, will headline that Iran had a Masterful and Brilliant Victory over The United States of America, it wasn’t even close,” he posted on Truth Social.
Throughout the conflict, Trump has routinely complained of the negative press he received for his decision to fight Iran. He has, on multiple occasions, declared victory, pointing to the destruction of Iran’s navy and the depletion of their ballistic missile arsenal.
Nevertheless, the ongoing, albeit nominal, ceasefire has not seen Iran make concessions at the negotiating table and a formal deal to end the war remains elusive.
Meanwhile, fighting continues in Lebanon between Israel and Hezbollah. In the Persian Gulf, moreover, Iran and the UAE have traded fire and commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has not returned to normal.
