Trump stumps for Letlow ahead of Senate runoff to replace Cassidy

President Donald Trump on Friday urged Louisiana voters to back Rep. Julia Letlow, R-La., in the Senate Republican primary runoff contest as early voting began.Trump backed Letlow over Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., who voted to convict him in his second impeachment trial over Jan. 6. Cassidy placed third in the first round, finishing behind Letlow and state Treasurer John Fleming, who face one another in the runoff.
“I know Julia well, have seen her tested at the highest and most difficult levels, and she is a TOTAL WINNER! A Proud Mother of two children, Julia is a wonderful person, has ALWAYS delivered for Louisiana, and would continue doing so in the United States Senate,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“As your next Senator, Julia will work tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Support our Amazing Farmers and Fishermen, Champion Louisiana Oil & Gas, Unleash American Energy DOMINANCE, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment,” he added.
Early voting began on Friday, with the runoff set for June 27th. The general election is expected to favor the Republican. 
Trump’s involvement in Senate primaries has thus far seen him back candidates to successfully oust both Cassidy and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, who lost his runoff to state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Letlow first entered Congress after winning a special election to replace her husband, Rep.-elect Luke Letlow, R-La., who died of COVID-19 befgore taking office.
