President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order to modernize data sharing between the Department of War and Department of Veterans Affairs.The order aims to streamline veteran access to benefits, in part by improving data sharing from personnel files and service records between the branches.
Trump also directed the secretaries of both departments to create digital tools through AI to further coordinate between them. Trump signed the order after meeting with military personnel and 9/11 first responders on the White House Ellipse earlier in the day.
That event saw him posthumously award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Welles Crowther, a volunteer firefighter who died during the 9/11 terror attacks.
