President Donald Trump will hold campaign events in Iowa and Kansas after all and has rescheduled the events he planned to dump for virtual rallies ahead of the Tuesday midterms.The Associated Press reported, citing a “person familiar with the plans,” that Trump would appear for rallies in each state on Sunday. Trump initially planned to hold tele-rallies to reach a wider audience, though the move led to speculation about Republican assessments of the Iowa and Kansas races.
Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kans., had presented an optimistic assessment, suggesting that Trump had canceled the Kansas rally because his strong poll performances indicated his time would be spent better elsewhere.
Marshall is facing a close reelection race against Democratic nominee Adam Hamilton, while Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, is vying to replace the retiring Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, in the Hawkeye state.
