President Donald Trump on Tuesday confirmed that there were no ongoing talks with Iran and that the U.S. Navy maintained its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.”There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect. The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated,” he posted on Truth Social.
Negotiations to end the war broke down just weeks after the U.S. and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) meant to end the conflict.
The war began in late February with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes that killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Trump has sought a commitment from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon, but Tehran has been unwilling to accept his demands.
