Trump maxes out Air Force One’s frequent flyer log with ‘indefatigable’ midterm campaign schedule

At 80, President Donald Trump is outworking candidates half his age on the midterm trail, logging thousands of air miles across North America in seven days while packing arenas and speaking for hours to shore up Republican candidates.“President Trump’s energy and vitality are truly remarkable for being 80 years old.  Average middle-aged men show signs of fatigue with intensive, professional travel schedules – not indefatigable Trump,” Dr. Peter McCullough, chief scientific officer at the Wellness Company, told Just the News.
In just the past seven days, from October 7 through October 14, Trump’s schedule has been relentless. He opened the stretch with a Wednesday night rally in San Antonio, Texas, headlining at the Freeman Coliseum to boost Senate candidate Ken Paxton and other Republicans roughly 1,386 miles from Washington, D.C.
After returning to the White House, he flew north on Friday for remarks at the Oncenter, in Syracuse, New York, about 290 flight miles away, where he campaigned for gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman alongside boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Saturday took him roughly 588 flight miles southwest to Clarksville, Tennessee, for a rally at F&M Bank Arena supporting local Republicans; a planned stop at the Georgia-Alabama game in Tuscaloosa was canceled.
Sunday was mostly White House executive time and a local outing near Sterling, Virginia. Monday brought another short hop of about 244 flight miles to Youngstown, Ohio, where he rallied at the Covelli Centre for Sen. Jon Husted and other GOP contenders.
The longest leg came Tuesday: an eight-hour Air Force One flight of more than 3,350 miles to Wasilla, Alaska, where he headlined at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center for Sen. Dan Sullivan, Rep. Nick Begich III, and gubernatorial candidate Bernadette Wilson before continuing to Las Vegas for the night.
On Wednesday he flew from Las Vegas to Bullhead City, Arizona for remarks at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport, then on to Kalispell, Montana at Majestic Valley Arena, before heading back to the White House.
The pace – spanning Texas, New York, Tennessee, Ohio, Alaska, Nevada, Arizona, and Montana in one week – underscores an endurance few would expect from a sitting president of his age less than three weeks from Election Day.
    Other presidents took it easy
No modern president has matched the sustained, continent-spanning midterm pace Trump is keeping at 80.
In 2024, when Democrat President Joe Biden was seeking reelection, at 81, he ran a conspicuously light schedule; an Axios analysis found he logged roughly three-quarters of Democrat President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election travel through mid-year. And after Biden dropped his reelection bid in July, his public appearances thinned further, with most scheduled events clustered between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and many speeches were under half an hour.
Obama’s busiest single reelection day – covering about 5,300 miles, from Iowa through Colorado, California, Nevada and an overnight flight to Florida – was a one-off sprint, not a week-long pattern of multi-state hops that included a 16-hour, round-trip flight like the one Trump took to Alaska.
Earlier midterm efforts by sitting presidents were more limited in geographic reach and density. Ronald Reagan campaigned in 14 states in October 1986 and still lost the Senate; Obama’s 2010 tour failed to avert a 63-seat House wipeout.
Trump himself held 23 rallies in 15 states in the final weeks of 2018, his first midterm as president. None of those stretches featured the same compressed sequence of long-haul domestic flights, same-day double stops and overnight cross-country legs that Trump has logged from Texas to New York to Tennessee to Ohio to Alaska to Nevada, Arizona and Montana inside seven days. At an age when predecessors narrowed their public calendars, Trump’s itinerary appears the most rigorous on record. – as he tries to keep the Republican majorities in the House and Senate and GOP governors leading states.
