President Trump endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton over incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the Texas Republican Senate primary runoff, ending months of speculation and setting off a wave of frustration among Senate Republicans who had lobbied hard to keep the president on the sidelines.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, calling Paxton a “true MAGA Warrior” and citing his support for ending the filibuster and backing the SAVE America Act. The endorsement landed just days before the May 26 runoff, and just hours after Cornyn told reporters he believed “that ship has finally sailed” on a Trump endorsement in the race.
