Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo., on Tuesday evening won her primary to represent the state in the Senate.Hageman achieved national attention after mounting a successful primary to remove now-former Rep. Liz Cheney, R-W-Wyo., after she broke with President Donald Trump.
Hageman took 64.9% of the vote in the Republican primary for Senate, more than doubling nearest challenger Sam Mead’s vote share of 27.8%.
Should she win the general election, she will replace the retiring Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo. The state is reliably Republican and winning the primary is almost tantamount to winning the election.
