President Donald Trump has approved the execution by firing squad of Nidal Hasan, the former Army psychiatrist convicted of killing 13 people in the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas.
If carried out, the execution would be the first by the U.S. military since 1961 and the military’s first known use of a firing squad since World War II.
