President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced the construction of a major shipyard in Baltimore, which he said would be the largest new shipyard in the U.S. since World War II.”Today, we’re officially launching the construction of the largest new shipyard in the United States since World War II, there’s been nothing like what we’re doing today,” Trump said.
The $3.7 billion investment from Anduril will receive billions more in support from the federal government. The facility will span 2 million square feet and be known as Arsenal-2.
During the announcement, Trump touted Baltimore’s history in making ships for U.S. wars and said the facility would help America build up its force of submarines for the current era.
