Trump activates previously unused deportation court

The Trump administration has activated a previously unused deportation court designed for the removal of “alien terrorists” to remove an Afghan woman who allegedly knew of her son’s plans to support the Islamic state.Haji Zada’s son and son-in-law previously pleaded guilty to their plans to carry out a terrorist attack on Election Day in 2024, according to Politico. The administration has sought to deport her, alleging that she knew of her family’s plans and was responsible for radicalizing them.
The United States Alien Terrorist Removal Court held its first hearing in its history on Thursday, under the oversight of Judge Joan Ericksen. The court had never taken a case before Thursday.
“Congress created the Alien Terrorist Removal Court three decades ago to remove from the United States alien terrorists who never should have been here in the first place,” acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement.
“The allegations in this case show the matriarch of an ISIS-sympathizing family aiding in a plot to launch a mass casualty attack on American voters on Election Day. The Department’s application in this court makes clear that terrorists have no place in the United States of America,” he added.
