Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., urged President Donald Trump to remove a video posted to Truth Social that showed President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.”Praying it was fake because it’s the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House. The President should remove it,” Scott said. The senator responded to a screenshot of the video, but not the video itself.
The image of the Obamas featured at the end of an unrelated video about voter fraud. The video then pans down to the clip, in an apparent auto-play that was not clipped.
The White House confirmed Trump’s post and defended the image as a meme related to “The Lion King” that also featured different lawmakers as other animals.
