    The sunshine vitamin: Study reveals how vitamin D protects your brain and why Big Pharma doesn’t want you to know

    A study published in Sleep Medicine found that older adults with mild cognitive impairment who took 5,000 IU or more of vitamin D daily scored over 13% higher on cognitive assessments than those who did not supplement.
    Vitamin D is critical for neurotransmitter production. A deficiency of this nutrient accelerates brain cell degeneration, memory loss and impaired cognition.
    Mainstream medicine ignores inexpensive nutritional interventions like vitamin D, as pharmaceutical companies profit more from chronic illness than from prevention.
    Vitamin D’s dual action in modulating inflammatory signaling can support both sleep quality and brain health, offering an alternative to addictive sedatives that worsen cognitive function.
    Experts recommend testing individual vitamin D levels before supplementing, noting that 5,000 IU is not a universal dose, and that natural sources include fatty fish and egg yolks, but supplementation with vitamin D3 is often necessary.
